The Belgrade Theatre is delighted to be joining forces with the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Newhall Academy of Dance to play host to Gala Concert on Sunday 8th March. The event will take place in the Belgrade’s Main Auditorium from 7.45pm onwards.

The event is being co-ordinated by Lynne Craig, a long serving staff member at the Belgrade Theatre who was diagnosed with the condition in 2012.

Building on the success of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge – which triggered the global fundraising phenomenon for Motor Neurone Disease – this one-off musical extravaganza will see talented performers from across Coventry and Warwickshire come together for a night of glittering musical celebration featuring a host of well-loved hits from the West End and Broadway performed live on stage.

Adding a touch of sparkle to proceedings will be Belgrade Panto legend Iain Lauchlan, our compere for the evening. Iain will be joined on sage by a talented cast of local performers including West End star Kirsty Davies who will be performing a selection of much-loved hits from the era-defining musicals Les Miserables, and Phantom Of The Opera plus a selection of popular classics from her extensive back catalogue. Having started her career at the age of four performing with Allesley School of Dance, Kirsty first shot to West End fame after being approached by Sir Cameron McKintosh to audition for the role of Cosette in the Les Miserables 21st Anniversary Concert. A former pupil of Stratford-Upon- Avon College, Kirsty went on to study Music Performance and Professional Practice at Coventry University. Since her West End debut, Kirsty has gone on to perform at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Birmingham Symphony Hall and many more prestigious venues across the UK.

Richard Shackleford, Regional Fundraiser for the Motor Neurone Disease Association said:

“When I heard that the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry was planning a Gala Music event on behalf of the Motor Neurone Disease Association I was delighted to be asked to be involved. The Association relies heavily on individuals, businesses and organisations to conceive and plan events on our behalf and we recognise the huge amount of work and energy that this can consume. Our pledge is that the money raised will be used to support people living with MND and their families, to provide care in their homes, financial support where appropriate and also to fund research into this most devastating disease.”

A Gala Concert in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Association will take place on Sunday 8 March at 7.45pm. Tickets are priced at £14.50 and are available now via the Belgrade Theatre Box Office on 024 7655 305 or online at
