Wise Children scoops up rave reviews in London

Posted on 19 October 2018

Following this week’s official opening at The Old Vic Theatre in London, our exciting new co-production Wise Children has been scooping up some fantastic national reviews!

Co-produced by the Belgrade Theatre together with The Old Vic, Oxford Playhouse and York Theatre Royal, this “spectacular” new adaptation of Angela Carter’s exuberant novel marks the first new production to be directed by Emma Rice since leaving her role as Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe, and the first to come under the banner of her new company – also called Wise Children.

Following twin chorus girls Nora and Dora Chance as they narrate their complex and colourful family history, Wise Children is full of the usual playful, inventive spirit, warmth, humour and self-conscious theatricality that have characterised Emma Rice’s career, winning her widespread fame during her time with the hugely acclaimed Kneehigh Theatre.
