Well Done Wednesday: We welcome a new Friend of the Belgrade

Posted on 5 August 2015

Last weekend we held a backstage tour for our Friends of the Belgrade Theatre and welcomed a new member, who joined just in time to take part in the tour. Despite it being a warm sunny day, Friends were excited to spend a few hours in a dark theatre exploring the areas not normally accessible to members of the public.

Starting in the Shortland Foyer we learnt more about the history of the Belgrade before heading into B2 to take to the stage. We then moved up the building to the Patrick Suite (our rehearsal room), Wardrobe Maintenance and into one of our Dressing Rooms – where the Friends were most excited to find the iconic lights around the mirror.

From there we visited the Weston Learning Space and the Green Room before treading the boards of the Main Stage, which had just been painted ready for this year’s pantomime; Beauty and the Beast. We ended the tour by exiting via the Stage Door – unfortunately there were no autograph hunters waiting for us.

The backstage tour is just one of the exclusive events that Friends of the Belgrade Theatre are able to attend, with the next series of events being our pantomime Page to Stage. This is where Friends sit in on the first read through of the script, watch a dress rehearsal and then attend the VIP performance.

If you would like to join us on these events, you can do so by becoming a Friend of the Belgrade Theatre online, over the phone on 024 7655 3055 or in person at Box Office.

The Belgrade Theatre Trust is a registered charity (number 219163). This means that all the money given, raised or earned is not distributed as profit but kept and reinvested in the work that we do.To find out more, please visit:
