The Belgrade Celebrate Older People's Day

Posted on 1 October 2015

The Belgrade have been celebrating Older People’s Day at Coventry Central Library today. The Older People’s Day Fair had a range of stalls, with discussion ranging from sexual health to personal security. The Belgrade was supported by members of its Shine On Over 50s group, who were happy to help. talking to people interesting in joining, and interested in our upcoming shows. With a great deal of interest in Shine On particularly, we were inundated with interest, especially as so many of our members were present and available to answer questions.

The event itself was a great success – lots of footfall and a variety of events and stalls meant it was a wonderful event, and the activities, refreshments and vintage DJ were top notch. The Belgrade had a wonderful time at the event, got to meet so many new people at our stall, and hope we’ve encouraged more older people to engage with the arts. Our Shine On participants had a great time supporting us too – we really appreciated their help and presence.

We at the Belgrade have long prided ourselves on the accessibility of our facilities and our engagement with the community. Whether it’s participatory groups like Shine On, older people atttending shows, or older people simply having a bite to eat at our cafe, we are very happy to work with local communities. Happy Older People’s Day!
