Keep the Christmas spirit alive after Nativity! The Musical

Posted on 30 October 2018

Last week was a wonderful week here at the Belgrade Theatre with Nativity! The Musical finally coming home to Coventry and kicking off our Christmas celebrations early. Adapted for the stage by Coventry local Debbie Isitt – creator of the much-loved film series – was the perfect way to see in the festive season and get us warmed up for this year’s panto, Sleeping Beauty.

All week, the atmosphere was electric as excited audiences flooded the building, singing along to the hits from the show and laughing at hilarious on-stage antics.

But even before the doors opened, a selection of our Members and staff enjoyed an exclusive sneak peak of the dress rehearsal – if you’re interested in experiencing these events here’s where to find out more about becoming a Member.

As a registered charity (number 219163) we are reliant on the support of Members, donors, corporates and sponsors to continue the work we do in the community, supporting our activities with young and older people and our artistic journey as a theatre. Find out more about why we are a charity.

With bucket collections in place at each of the eight performances of Nativity!, we are delighted to announce that generous audience members donated an amazing £858 towards our charitable work across the week. Including Gift Aid, that brings the grand total to a staggering £1,053!

We would like to say a big thank you to Jamie Wilson Productions and our amazing front of house team, who kindly supported the bucket collection. Also, a special thank you to the talented Evie, one of the young cast members from the show who helped us out by recording a special announcement outlining the Belgrade’s charitable work, and explaining why those buckets on the door are extremely important. The talented Evie has now gone on to sparkle and shine on tour with the company in venues across the country, and we wish her all the very best for future shows.

Last but not least, we’d like to say a massive thank you to all the theatre-goers who embraced the charitable spirit of Christmas early and helped us out with their donations. Every penny helps!

If you’re not quite ready to say goodbye to Nativity! The Musical, don’t forget that you can also take a piece of the magic home. A limited number of exclusive posters signed by Simon Lipkin, Scott Garnham, Ashleigh Gray, Andy Brady and Debbie Isitt are available to purchase from our Box Office for just £5, the cost of which will also help support the theatre’s work.
