Submit your short story for The Monster Challenge

“Stories are important. Stories can be more important than anything. If they carry the truth.”
Patrick Ness, A Monster Calls

Ahead of the arrival of A Monster Calls at the Belgrade in March, we are inviting you to take part in a fantastic new competition.

Are you a young person with a passion for telling stories? Do you feel the itch to grab a notebook and pen to respond to the world around you? Or do you know a young person aged 10-25 who loves creative writing?

The Monster Challenge seeks short stories from young people aged 10-25, nationwide. The challenge is open to all – anyone who has a story to tell.

We are looking for the boldest, bravest and most creative short stories, so let your imaginations run wild!

Stories submitted from each region across the tour will be selected and narrated by members of the cast, in a series of videos posted up on social. The deadline for Coventry writers is Thursday 27 February, with A Monster Calls arriving at the Belgrade the following week.

For full details about the challenge and how to enter, simply download the Monster Challenge Pack attached to this page. Pick up a pen and go. Run with it. Make trouble…

Submissions can be uploaded here. Follow the hashtag #AMonsterChallenge

A Monster Calls comes to the Belgrade Tuesday 3 – Saturday 7 March. Tickets are available now from the Box Office on 024 7655 3055, and online here.
