Ska-Struck - Face to Face with the Original Stars of 2 Tone!

Posted on 19 September 2014

After an intensive week of rehearsals, you’d think the cast of Three Minute Heroes would be looking forward to a Friday night spent tucked up in front of the TV with a cuppa. That is, until, they were offered the opportunity to see not one, but two of the original stars of 2 Tone perform live at Coventry’s G Casino!

Our 2 Tone-mad cast could only be described as ska-struck when they came face to face with their musical idols at an exclusive ‘Up Close and Personal’ gig featuring Coventry legends, Neville Staple and The Selecter held at the G Casino on Friday 12th September.

First up was ‘original Rude Boy’, Neville Staple and his band who treated Coventry’s 2 Tone faithfuls to a foot-stomping set featuring a selection of new material plus plenty of favourites from The Specials song book including ‘Gangster’, ‘Enjoy Yourself’, ‘Ghost Town’ and ‘A Message To You’. Needless to say, our young cast couldn’t stop themselves from skanking along!

Next up was Pauline Black and The Selecter whose set came complete with a special shout-out for the cast ahead of the smash-hit ‘Three Minute Hero’!

After getting in plenty of practice and picking up a few star-tips along the way, there was just about time enough for a quick photo call with Neville and Pauline before heading home.

Three Minute Heroes returns to rock the Belgrade Theatre from Sat 4 – Sat 25 October. Tickets for Three Minute Heroes are available now from the box office on 024 7655 3055 priced from £9 – £21.25 or via where cheaper tickets are available.
