Sarah Zebrzuski on Volunteering for the Belgrade

Posted on 6 June 2016

To mark national Volunteers’ Week, running from 1 – 12 June, Sarah Zebrzuski shares her experience of volunteering with the Belgrade’s Community & Education department:

I have been volunteering with the Belgrade Theatre’s Youth Acting Classes since March this year.

It’s been apparent to me during my time here that the Belgrade strives to produce as many creative projects for all ages as possible and works hard to engage as many creative practitioners as possible.

Volunteering with the Belgrade Theatre’s creative team offers me lots of opportunities and valuable experiences. If a theatre practitioner is just starting out, volunteering at the Belgrade is a great place to begin as it offers an insight into the industry and hands on experience. For practitioners who come with more experience and knowledge, it’s great to get more involved and to be able to put your skills to good use.

I feel as though the Belgrade fully supports and promotes creativity, ideas and expression of the Arts. For me, it’s definitely is the creative heart of the City.

The Belgrade Theatre relies on the support of volunteers to ensure that our work is accessible and enjoyed by as many people as possible. As a registered charity, all the money given, raised or earned is not distributed as profit but kept and reinvested in the work that we do.
