Room On The Broom - 60 seconds with Amy Harris

Posted on 11 July 2017

What character do you play in Room on the Broom?
I play the slightly hapless Witch who is not quite as good at spells as you might think.

What do you love most about performing Room on the Broom?
Witch is so full of joy, that it’s hard not to enjoy being her for an hour on stage, and I love the inclusion in the story, that eventually (spoiler alert!) there is room for everyone. Also, there is a lot of technical detail in the show so as an actor it really keeps me on my toes.

Are you looking forward to coming to Coventry on tour?
Absolutely! I don’t really know Coventry well, so I’m looking forward to exploring.

What will you do whilst in Coventry?
I’ve heard Fargo Village is a quirky, interesting place to check out.

What do you think makes Room on the Broom such a popular story for children?
Possibly the animals. They are so charming, and are the ultimate heroes of the story.

Why should families see this show?
We have a lot of comments from children and adults alike that it’s a wonderful show. I really do think there is something for all the family from the songs to the puppetry and it’s very engaging.

Who would you take on a broomstick with you?
Someone who would really appreciate the magic of it. Maybe my two young nieces and my nephew. They have all seen the show so they have had a little ride on it!

Tickets for Room on the Broom are available now priced at £14.50 for adults, £12.50 for children and £45 for families. To book, call the Belgrade Box Office team on 024 7655 3055 or visit
