Red Snapper, a production which premiered at the Belgrade Theatre earlier this year, is among 7 other new plays to be nominated for an Alfred Fagon Audience Award 2016.

The Alfred Fagon Audience Award recognizes and celebrates the depth of talented Black British playwrights of Caribbean and African descent writing in Britain today. The winning play will be chosen by a public vote which closes on 16th October 2016, and announced on the Alfred Fagon Awards website. Follow the link below to cast your vote for Red Snapper.

Shining a spotlight on the stories of five women swimming against the tide of political and social change, Red Snapper is the stunning debut play by Liz Mytton. It was the first full production to come from the Belgrade Theatre’s acclaimed playwriting project, Critical Mass for emerging playwrights from Black and Minority Ethnic Communities.

It was directed by the Belgrade’s own Associate Director, Justine Themen and featured an all-female cast led by the BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated actress Cathy Tyson.
