Take a look at these photographs of the Young Company’s latest production, Playlist, which is running in B2 until Sat 9 March 2013.

Directed by Neil Bettles, Artistic Director of ThickSkin theatre company, Playlist is a piece of physical theatre that asks if we are really defined by the music we listen to and if we all have a soundtrack to our lives.

The story follows a group of youngsters who find an MP3 player on a bench in a city park; the only clues to the owner’s identity are the tracks. The action unfolds through a series of episodic memories triggered by the 12 songs. The play has been devised from scratch by Neil Bettles and assistant director Orla O’Connor, along with the youngsters, who are also taking on production and stage management roles.

Neil Bettles said, “Playlist is about getting lost, being alone, being led, falling in love, being rejected and doing the unthinkable. The cast of eight have been working hard to develop the ideas, words and movement that make up the show, which will feature a backdrop of projected images to give a cinematic quality to the work. Playlist will be a highly physical, emotionally charged evening of theatre presented by some of the brightest young talent in Coventry.”

Entrance to Playlist is free, however the theatre will ask for a donation at the end of the performance. All proceeds will go towards supporting the Belgrade’s ongoing work within the local community, which is carried out by the Belgrade Community & Education Company.
