Metta Theatre bring FREE hip hop workshop to the Belgrade

Posted on 17 December 2018

Aged 17-25? Love hip hop? Like free stuff?

This Spring, acclaimed production company Metta Theatre are inviting Coventry audiences to discover The Wind in the Willows as you’ve never seen it before in their brand new hip hop musical, In The Willows.

Featuring choreography by acclaimed hip hop artist and Street Dance 3D star Rhimes Lecointe, this faced-paced adaptation brings the classic story of Toad, Rattie and Mole bang up to date with dynamic dance moves, loveable characters, an original soundtrack by Pippa Cleary and Keiran Merrick, and integrated sign language.

But the company needs your help to make it happen!

Ahead of the show’s arrival at the Belgrade Theatre 20-23 March, Metta Theatre is calling on Midlands-based 17-25-year-olds to take part in a FREE hip hop workshop, with a chance to be part of a chorus of community dancers!

Taking place at the Belgrade from 6-7.30pm on Thursday 24 January, this 90-minute session will be led by Sheila Attah (Bird Gang), one of the UK’s leading hip hop dance teachers, and will cover everything from House to Waacking in a fun, friendly and informal atmosphere. All abilities and experience levels are welcome, including absolute beginners, but booking is essential, and participants must be aged 18 or over.

At the end of the session, up to ten young people will be selected from the workshop to form a chorus of Rabbits and Weasels that will appear in the show on stage at the Belgrade.
