Last week the cast of Made in India arrived here at the Belgrade Theatre and we thought we’d give you an early insight into what they’ve been up to! Click on the images on the right hand side of the page to have a look at the rehearsal photos.

The cast and crew have been working very hard to bring to you a poignant and thrilling story about motherhood and blood ties between women and nations in a brave new world.

Written by Satinder Chohan, the brand new Made in India takes to our B2 stage between Tues 24 Jan and Sat 4 Feb. With its visually stunning design and talented cast of just three, the absorbing drama brings to the forefront the current global debate on surrogacy in a gripping and enthralling setting.

Set in a surrogacy clinic in Gujarat, India’s westernmost state, three woman meet, Londoner Eva, village girl Aditi and clinic owner, Dr Gupta. Eva is in motherhood’s last chance saloon, for Aditi – who is also a dairy worker and single mother – surrogacy is a lifeline out of poverty and for businesswoman Dr Gupta, it’s all just another transaction. But with the backdrop of profound global forces, can it possibly remain that simple?

A passion-filled tale and a superb new piece of writing, Made in India is brave, bold and adventurous in its storytelling. Syreeta (Dr Gupta), Gina (Eva) and Ulrika (Aditi) are certain to deliver exceptionally powerful performances and illustrate the current global debate on surrogacy through such realism.
