Macmillan Coffee Morning raises £1,148.93

Thanks to the fabulous contributions of staff as well as external partners and supporters, we’re thrilled to announce that this year’s Belgrade Theatre Macmillan Coffee Morning has raised an amazing £1,148 93 for the charity.

Held every year at our Belgrade Production Services workshop, the Macmillan Coffee Morning sees sets and costumes give way to sweets and cakes as different departments take time out of their busy schedules to gather together in aid of a good cause.

Taking place on Friday 21 September, this year’s event saw tables piled high with an eye-popping array of cakes, all specially baked by staff members from across the organisation. Adding to the fun was a raffle with prizes generously donated by Coombe Abbey, Windmill Village Dulux to name but a few.

As usual, the cream of the cakes were chosen both by appointed judge Lynne Craig and by public vote, and this year saw some particularly stiff competition. In the end, box office manager Linda Grimmett was awarded both first and second prize in the judge’s choice awards for her Lime and Courgette Cake and her fiery Beetroot and Ginger Cake respectively.

Meanwhile, the public vote named a more familiar favourite as the winner, with a classic carrot cake claiming the victory. Joint runners-up included both a second carrot cake (one of many entered), and a more unusual apple, walnut, chocolate and brandy concoction.

The Belgrade would like to thank all staff and contributors for their help in making the coffee morning successful.
