Inside the Pelican Pub - Three Men In A Boat Backstage!

Posted on 30 September 2014

When it comes to set designs with a difference, you’d have to go far to beat the brilliantly bonkers Three Men In A Boat which docks in Coventry later this month.

Taking its inspiration from Jerome K Jerome’s comedy of nautical misadventure, Craig Gilbert’s inventive new take on a literary classic chooses a working English pub as its own particular backdrop. Bursting at the seams with authentic period detail, Victoria Spearing’s set is every bit your quintessentially English ‘ale house’ – with a generous sprinkling of silliness thrown in for good measure!

Ahead of the show’s visit to Coventry, we caught up with the hilarious Tom Hackney who treated us to a whistle-stop tour of ‘The Elusive Pelican Public House’ and a special reception with its favourite canine star…..Montmorency or Monty for short! Needless to say, it was all a bit ‘barking’!

Here’s a little preview to wet…sorry, ‘whet’ your appetite!
