Inside the Concrete Jungle - Three Minute Heroes, The Set

Posted on 25 July 2014

Welcome to Coventry – centre of the musical universe – at a time when the city’s bands ruled the airwaves. The music had to be ska and the legendary 2 Tone label was the hub of it all.

Telling the story of 2 Tone through the lives of five Coventry teenagers, Three Minute Heroes famously played to sell-out audiences during its original premiere at the Belgrade in 2000. Overwhelming public demand saw the production return to the Belgrade Main Stage for a second successful run in the following year.

This brand new production will, for the first time, see Three Minute Heroes transfer to the intimate surroundings of the Belgrade’s B2 stage! With backstage preparations for the show already under way, we caught up with Set Designer and life-long 2 Tone fan Patrick Connellan earlier this week to find out more about bringing Coventry’s ‘concrete jungle’ to life on stage for a new generation of Ska-fans!

Featuring a terrific live band playing foot-stomping favourites by The Selecter and The Specials, Three Minute Heroes bursts onto the B2 stage for three weeks from Sat 4 – Sat 25 Oct 2014. For tickets, call the Box Office on 024 7655 3055 or visit our website at
