Nanny Knot and Muddles at the Christmas lights switch on

Posted on 20 November 2012

Our Dame, Nanny Knot and her sidekick Muddles took time out from rehearsing for Sleeping Beauty to help out at this year’s Christmas lights switch on in Coventry City Centre, which took place on Sunday 18 November.

Muddles started the day with JD & Roisin from Free Radio’s Breakfast Show at a special story-telling event in West Orchards shopping centre where they were joined by more than 400 children throughout the day. The excited children were treated to a reading of Sleeping Beauty which was specially adapted by the writer of our panto, Iain Lauchlan.

Meanwhile, Nanny Knot donned her electrifying union jack dress to entertain the crowds in Broadgate and help Wizzard and ELO front man Roy Wood and the lucky winner of the Shining Star competition turn on the city’s christmas lights.

Both Muddles and Nanny Knot also managed to make it to the Coventry Transport Museum’s Campers Christmas event where they joined the legendary Stig from Top Gear and helped to judge the winners of this year’s ‘Vans vs. Vespas Bling-Off’. The winner of the best camper van was a VW that had been converted into a hearse and had a christmas dinner laid out in the back!
