Horrible Histories Book Night - Photo Highlights From Fargo Village

Horrible Histories fever hits Coventry this Spring with the arrival of a brand-new double bill Groovy Greeks and Incredible Invaders landing at the Belgrade theatre from Tues 26 – Sat 30 May!

To celebrate the return of the nation’s best-loved historical stage show, the Belgrade Theatre teamed up with staff at The Big Comfy Bookshop, Fargo Village to play host to a night of gruesome games, blood-curdling crafts and spine-chilling storytelling on Thursday 30th April from 6pm – 8pm.

The free event which took place at The Big Comfy Bookshop in Fargo Village followed in the success of the Harry Potter Book Night held at the store in February earlier this year. The event took inspiration from over a century of Incredible Invaders to the U.K’s shores taking in ruthless Romans, vicious Vikings, smashing Saxons and a host of colourful historical characters along the way.

Visitors were invited to discover more about ancient artefacts from Coventry’s roman past with local history expert Dom Russell, have their photos taken with a fully-armed Anglo-Saxon Solider, try their hand at Roman sword-making and get to grips with the world of Anglo-Saxon storytelling with a special performance of Beowulf.

Visitors also enjoyed a taste of Anglo-saxon hospitality with non-alcoholic measly mead served throughout the night from the bookshop’s pop-up tavern. Completing the evening’s entertainment, guests were invited to test their historical knowledge with a quick-fire quiz inspired by the hit stage show with the first prize of a family ticket to see Horrible Histories – Groovy Greeks and Incredible Invaders up for grabs plus a chance to meet the stars backstage after the show.
