First Look - Behind the Scenes of Red Snapper. A New Play by Liz Mytton

Posted on 8 February 2016

With storm Imogen currently wreaking havoc across the UK, we decided to bring some much-needed Jamaican sunshine to Coventry for a Caribbean-inspired photo call with the cast of Red Snapper.

Set in 1962, Red Snapper is a new play by Liz Mytton which tells the story of five women who have been tasked by their husbands with planning a welcome meal for Fidel Castro – who is visiting the island. Set against a simmering backdrop of political independence, migration and mass tourism, Red Snapper features an all-female cast, including BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee Cathy Tyson, playing a collection of vibrant characters, and dialogue loaded with humour and pathos.

Ahead of the show’s debut, we set about recreating a little piece of Jamaica in our B2 studio with cast members Cathy Tyson, Debra Michaels, Karlina Grace Paseda, Dawn Hope and Gabrielle Brooks.

You can view a selection of photo highlights from the day – including the cast visiting our friends at Coventry Market – by clicking on the image gallery to your right.

Red Snapper makes its stage premiere in B2 from Sat 5 – Sat 19 Mar. Tickets are priced from £9.50 – £17. Tickets are available from the Belgrade Box Office on 024 7655 3055 or book online for even cheaper tickets.
