Faces of the Belgrade - Corey Campbell

Posted on 12 April 2017

The work of the Belgrade on stage and in our communities benefits a wide range of people. This week, Corey Campbell writes about his work with the theatre.

My role at the Belgrade Theatre is as a Creative Associate, and I am also the Artistic Director of Strictly Arts Company, a physical theatre company that was recently granted Springboard status at the Belgrade, providing us with office space, mentoring, and communications and fundraising support.

During my time here, I’ve been able to assist director Katie Posner on the co-production Made In India, an opportunity I know I wouldn’t have had elsewhere, which taught me valuable skills and was my first time touring as a director.

The company has been able to grow here in Coventry, and the Belgrade has helped us to secure City Council funding, and venues for our new touring production Freeman. We owe this development to the support of the Belgrade Theatre.

If I had to choose a highlight of my time here at the Belgrade, I’d choose any moment performing on the B2 stage. I’m possibly the biggest fan of that space!
