Did you know…today is the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People?

Posted on 20 March 2012

On March 20th, every year since 2001, the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People has been celebrated all over the world by the international community of theatre practitioners for children and young people.

The Belgrade has a strong tradition of arts being used as a tool to explore issues with children and young people and in the 1960s it was the first theatre to establish a Theatre in Education Company. The theatre continues to lead the way in cutting-edge and artistically challenging community arts practice and annually tours a TIE production in local primary schools.

The Belgrade Community & Education Company offers young people a variety of opportunities to engage in participatory arts activities, including drama classes, workshops, productions and career talks. The groups run by the* Community & Education Company* are offered free of charge to ensure that young people can have access to theatre and develop skills that can be of benefit in their everyday life.

To mark World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People the Young Company are participating in Masterclass workshops with creative professionals to further develop their skills in theatre and the performing arts.
