Did you know…the Belgrade is raising funds to improve its set making workshop?

Posted on 24 January 2013

Belgrade Production Services (BPS) is the Theatre’s commercial set construction and wardrobe facility, which produces sets and costumes for the Belgrade as well as other theatres, production companies and events.

The profits from BPS are re-invested back into the charitable activities of the Belgrade Theatre, such as its Community & Education Company. Being able to generate its own income reduces (although it does not replace) the Belgrade’s reliance on funding from other sources such as Coventry City Council and Arts Council England. This makes the Theatre more self-sufficient.

Belgrade Production Services has sound knowledge of the industry and has gained an excellent reputation since its launch in 2008; the only threat to the success of BPS is the condition of the Theatre’s workshop.

The workshops need to be improved to ensure that the building is fit for purpose. The roof needs to be replaced and damaged external walls need to be made structurally secure to ensure that the building is water tight. In addition, the building needs to be made energy efficient, therefore reducing its financial and environmental impact.

The Belgrade Theatre needs to raise £380,000 towards the cost of the works to be completed. We plan to raise these funds from donations from individuals, businesses and grant making Trusts.
