Did you know…the Belgrade has been touring around Coventry and Warwickshire?

Posted on 21 June 2013

Life at the Belgrade Theatre has returned to normal this week (as normal as the life of a busy theatre ever is) after a busy week touring work across Coventry and Warwickshire.

The Belgrade Theatre Unplugged events offered people a unique opportunity to hear extracts from forthcoming productions in a variety of interesting venues, including Compton Verney, Draycote Water and The Charterhouse. The project was funded by the Catalyst Arts Fund and was designed to give people an insight into the work that the Belgrade does.

The Belgrade Theatre Unplugged also enabled the Development department to promote the Belgrade’s charitable status to a wider audience and explain how productions, like those seen, are funded by the support of the Arts Council, Coventry City Council and the generosity of individuals, businesses and grant-making trusts & foundations.

The Belgrade Theatre Unplugged wasn’t the only Belgrade event taking place out of the Theatre building last week, our Shine On group performed their new production, From the End Spring New Beginnings, as part of the Coventry Mysteries Festival. The Shine On group began life as part of the theatre’s Creative Gymnasium programme. Funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and Awards for All, Creative Gymnasium was a pilot project created in partnership with Age UK Coventry and Coventry University, which explored how taking part in arts activity can significantly improve and maintain positive health and well-being for the 50+ population of Coventry.
