Dick Whittington in Rehearsal

Posted on 11 November 2016

Last week our wonderful panto cast arrived at the Belgrade and we thought we’d give you a sneaky peak of what they’ve been up to! Click on the Images & Video Gallery on the right hand side of the page to see the stunning rehearsal photos by Nicola Young.

This year’s magical pantomime will be Dick Whittington, a tale about cats and rats, fame and fortune and a whole load of glitter and adventure. It’s an enchanting festive treat for all the family! Seeing a brand new script is always exciting and even more so when it has been written and directed by our panto legend, Iain Lauchlan. The Dick Whittington cast have been rehearsing to perfect their performance, and they look amazing!

No pantomime is complete without a magical fairy! Even without her costume our beautiful Fairy Bow Bells, played by actress Anna Mitcham shines bright, spreading good will and sparkle. We can’t wait to see her in her full, glitzy costume, designed by Mark Walters.

But with adventure comes trials and tribulations and Dick Whittington is no different! Standing in the way of Dick is a team of pesky rats, with Queen Rat, played by Melone M’Kenzy leading the pack. These rats have one goal and one goal only: to conquer the world!

But where will Queen Rat find an army of rats to help her on her mission? Three teams of 24 local children have been getting involved with the panto action as well, practicing dance routines and getting up to all sorts of mischievous shenanigans at the Belgrade. Could they be the ones to help Queen Rat succeed in her plans to dominate the world? Not if Dick Whittington has anything to do without!

Full of vigour and joy, Dick Whittington played by Tricia-Adele Turner, sure seems to be full of hope and optimism. Will he be able to end the reign of Queen Rat and her hordes? Will Dick Whittington prevail? You’ll just have to wait and see!

Tickets are available priced from £16 for adults, £11 for children and £43 for families. Book now by calling the theatre’s friendly box office team on 024 7655 3055 or book online for even cheaper tickets.
