Critical Mass Running for a Sixth Year

What’s your story?

Autumn 2018 sees the return of the Belgrade Theatre’s free playwriting programme for writers aged 18+ from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee backgrounds. Critical Mass, in partnership with Euphoric Ink and in association with Tamasha Theatre Company, sees up to twenty up-and-coming writers developing their skills in a 10-week course, with the aim of championing and supporting new talent and underrepresented stories.

The course was originally conceived at the Royal Court, London, in 2004, and has since led to workshops and rehearsed readings of the participants’ plays. Olivier-award winner Bola Agbaje participated in Critical Mass whilst it was at the Royal Court and regular Belgrade attendees will recognize Red Snapper by Liz Mytton which was a play developed during Critical Mass before becoming a full stage production at the Belgrade Theatre in Spring 2016.

Applications are open and close on Monday 11 June. More information about the Critical Mass programme and how to apply can be found here.
