Belgrade Pancake Flipping Race Returns for 2016!

Posted on 27 January 2016

Once again we are inviting individuals and local businesses to help celebrate Shrove Tuesday with our 4th annual Belgrade Pancake Race on Broadgate between 12.30pm and 1.30pm on Tuesday 9 February.

This fun filled event will see teams of 4 compete in a series of races involving flipping pancakes whilst navigating around obstacles for a chance to win a selection of prizes. Entry is free but teams will need to bring their own frying pan.

Collections will be taking place at the event in support of our Making Memories campaign, which aims to offer people who are facing challenging circumstances complimentary tickets to family shows at the Belgrade. In 2015, the our Making Memories campaign provided over 600 pantomime tickets for families facing financial hardship at Christmas.

This year’s Pancake Race is being supported by Coventry community radio station, Radio Plus 101.5FM (, who’ll be on hand to provide commentary in Broadgate. Tim Coleman, Station Manager said, “The Belgrade Theatre already sponsor our Friday afternoon leisure, arts and culture show, “Not Quite The Weekend” presented by Darren Burgess, so it’s great that we can support this year’s Pantastic Pancake Race. You’ll hear us in Broadgate next Tuesday lunchtime so come down to join us all for the fun.’‘

To pre-register your Pancake Race team, email and don’t forget to bring your own frying pan!

The Belgrade Theatre Trust is a registered charity (number 219163). This means that all the money given, raised or earned is not distributed as profit but kept and reinvested in the work that we do. For more information please speak to a member of staff or visit
