Posted on 21 November 2014

With preparations for the 50th Anniversary of Theatre In Education at the Belgrade now under way, we were delighted to see the work of the Community and Education Company acknowledged at this year’s National Youth Week celebrations 2014.

Belgrade Youth worker Jouvan Fuccini was delighted to pick up an award for ‘Valued Partnership Contribution to the Youth Service’ for his work with children and young people in Canley.

The Belgrade currently runs a thriving Youth Theatre in Canley as part of its extensive outreach programme. The Belgrade has a strong tradition of Youth Theatre with the first groups being set up by the Theatre in Education Company as part of their service for young people in the 1960s. The theatre currently runs a total of six in-house youth theatres including our newly launched Asian Youth Theatre, Black Youth Theatre, Middle and Senior Youth Theatre.

National Youth Work Week provides an opportunity for youth organisations, youth workers and young people across the UK to celebrate their achievements and the impact of their work within their community. This year’s campaign aimed to highlight the role of youth work in supporting young people to develop the personal qualities and attitudes which enable them to understand more about themselves, others and society.
