Belgrade café launches Afternoon Chai menu

Posted on 24 April 2018

With Tara Arts’ The Game of Love and Chai running at the Belgrade Theatre this week, our catering team have been getting creative with a delicious new Afternoon Chai menu.

Offering a South Asian twist on a classic British favourite, this growing trend reimagines the traditional afternoon tea with spices, snacks and flavours drawn from Eastern-style cuisine, making it the perfect accompaniment to The Game of Love and Chai’s own distinctive mix of influences.

Running 24-28 April, the show forms part of Tara Arts’ ongoing “Binglish” project, which fuses Western and South Asian inspirations to spark exciting and creative new ideas. Written by British comedy legend Nigel Planer, The Game of Love & Chai sees the premise of an 18th-century French farce by Pierre de Marivaux transported to a contemporary British Asian setting, complete with a catchy, Bollywood-infused soundtrack.

The full Afternoon Chai menu is as follows:

A choice of Chai, Lemon & Ginger, Jasmine or Earl Grey Tea
Chicken Tikka and/or Bombay Vegetable Finger Sandwiches
Vegetable Samosa, Onion Bhaji and Vegetable Pakora
Pistachio and Rose Cake
Coconut Macaroons

Afternoon Chai will be served in our café throughout the production’s five-day run this week. The package is priced at £19.95 for two people.
