This Christmas we have the purr-fect treat for all the family, our fabulously festive pantomime, Puss in Boots. Not performed at the Belgrade for many years, this thrilling adventure ‘tail’ about a very crafty cat is guaranteed to kick-start a very Meowy Christmas! Tickets are already selling fast so book early to guarantee the best seats at the best price on your preferred date.

Things are looking pretty bleak in the village of Baggy Bottom on the Bog. An evil Ogre and his horrible henchman Victor Grabitt have control over everyone – even the King – and now they’re trying to kick Simon and his mother Matilda Pudding out of their home! The poor Puddings could really use some help… Enter Puss in Boots – a clever (and very fashionable) feline who promises to save their home and make them as rich as royalty by embarking on a crafty quest.

But Puss and the Puddings soon find themselves in peril when Victor Grabitt and the Ogre learn of their plans. Will our trusty trio be triumphant? Will Puss keep his promises? And can our hairy hero outsmart the evil Ogre?

Once again written by and starring Iain Lauchlan as the Dame, this year’s show will feature the amazing sets, crazy costumes and seasonal silliness that make a trip to the Belgrade panto an unmissable Christmas treat for thousands of families every year. Filled to the brim with magic, make-believe and madcap mayhem, Puss in Boots is guaranteed to delight all the family and leave you feline like the cats whiskers.

So strap on your best pair of boots and join us at the Belgrade Theatre, where Coventry celebrates Christmas.

What to expect from a Belgrade Theatre Pantomime

The Belgrade’s pantomime is all you would expect from a traditional panto – a magical spectacle full of silly humour, fairytale characters and glittering sets and costumes. There will be singing, dancing, slapstick comedy, audience participation and of course a traditional dame played by a man.

Our pantomimes are suitable for the whole family. We would never include any strong language, however there may be the odd joke thrown in especially for the grown ups!

The Oxford English Dictionary describes it as ‘a kind of play performed at Christmas time characterized by farce, music, lavish sets, stock roles and topical jokes.’

What is a relaxed performance?

A relaxed performance is specifically designed to be an open and welcoming environment for those audience members who may enjoy, or benefit from, a more relaxed performance style. This includes those with Autism Spectrum Conditions, sensory and communication disorders, learning disabilities, dementia, or other conditions. These shows are for everyone, including families with small children.

In a relaxed performance, audiences are asked to be aware of individual’s needs to move or make involuntary noise. We may make some small changes to light and sound effects.

Our relaxed performance is also captioned. Read more about captioned performances on our blog.
